EFL STUDENTS’ PERCEPTIONS ON THE INTEGRATION OF WHATSAPP IN A LOW-TECH LEARNING ENVIRONMENT

This paper explores how WhatsApp as social media is embedded into the educational practices of university students. The draws on an analysis 79 questionnaires and 10 online interviews. questionnaire survey was administered collected from students majoring in English Education at Universitas Sintuwu Maroso, Poso, Sulawesi Tengah. followed up by interviews, which were meant to provide deeper understanding students’ experiences integration aid their learning practices. discussion this focuses make meaning formal study. results indicate that although has potential a space for learning, simply valued channel exchanging information courses other practical information. Based these results, some models are suggested be applied context low-tech environment.
